The Exeter Advantage
Planning Your Trip
Our US-based office is staffed with consultants who have lived and worked in the destinations we offer. We are here to answer your detailed questions and help you plan the perfect trip to the cultural capitals of the world. As one of the first, non-government companies arranging travel in Eastern Europe, we have more experience and first hand information available to you than any other company in the Americas.
Your guide is one of the singularly most important parts of your travel experience. That is why we only use local experts who have a history of working with our clients and whom we know personally. They speak perfect English and are experts on the museums, palaces, and churches that draw people from around the world to Eastern Europe. We are extremely demanding in choosing our guides and are confident that your guide on an Exeter tour will be one of the most memorable aspects of your time in Europe.
By policy we use only centrally located, deluxe hotels with superior service, food, security and management on all of our tours. Each year new hotels open throughout Russia and Eastern Europe, raising standards back to levels that haven’t been seen for 70 years. We have also found some wonderfully quaint boutique hotels that we think you will love- and you probably wouldn’t even discover them on your own.
Over the past few years, excellent private restaurants have opened throughout Eastern Europe. They are not always easy to find, but they can give the traveler an outstanding view into the rebirth of regional cuisine in Eastern Europe. Meals in several new restaurants are included in every Exeter tour and on private tours; your guide will always be available to assist you in selecting a terrific restaurant that meets your needs.
Our small group tours were developed for the individual who usually prefers to travel independently. This is why we limit each group to a maximum of 20 members, giving you the best of both worlds: the freedom and intimacy of independent travel without the headache and worry of planning each step of the trip yourself. We believe that small groups allow for the intimacy and flexibility that are essential for a unique and exciting tour in Eastern Europe.
All of our scheduled departures are guaranteed unless specifically noted, so that you do not have to worry about last minute cancellations. While some tours may sell out very early, it is possible for your tour to range in size from 6 to 16 members- but never more than 20.
We believe that the spectacular ballet, opera and orchestra performances of Eastern Europe are some of the great attractions in each city and shouldn’t be missed. This is why we review the schedules of the major theaters in each city to select the best performances available during your visit. If you are traveling independently, we can reserve tickets for you according to your special requests if you prefer ballet, symphony or opera.
On tour, you can expect Western luxury vehicles that offer superior comfort. If you travel individually, you can choose a standard vehicle or a luxury car such as a Mercedes. The choice is yours.
We offer a full slate of daily excursions on our tours for those who want to see it all, but we encourage you to take some time to explore on your own as you like. Your guide and tour manager will be available to assist you in arranging private excursions of particular interest.
