The Train

Danube Express

The carriages of the Danube Express were originally built for the ruling elite of Hungary’s government in the 1950’s but redesigned with today’s comforts, giving the train a sense of history that has previously been unavailable. Onboard the train, deluxe compartments offer two lower berths and have private en suite bathrooms with showers featuring a heated towel rail, hair dryer, fresh towels and toiletries.

Deluxe Compartments

These compartments are included in your program and feature individually controlled air-conditioning units, adjustable lighting that can be adjusted to suit your mood, and personal reading lamps. For your security, personal safes are avialable in each compartment. The cabins are beautifully appointed with rich wood and complimenting deluxe fabrics. A full-length mirror and large picture window make each cabin feel even more spacious while a second window opens for those who wish to take a glare-free picture or get fresh air. There is ample storage space including cupboards and a full-length wardrobe.

A cabin attendant is on duty to bring morning tea or coffee and perhaps later, a glass of wine. During dinner each evening, your cabin will be transformed from a living space into a comfortable bedroom with two lower beds.

Dining Experience

Guests may dine together in the elegant restaurant cars, where attentive and friendly staff wait anxiously to serve the days specially prepared menu. All meals are prepared onboard the train by highly skilled chefs using fresh ingredients and local products. Award winning wines from the Szeremley Wine House in Budapest are served on the train. You may also choose to try the Hungarian beer, Dreher while onboard.

Breakfasts, cooked to order, also include fruit juice, cereals and rolls. All lunches and dinners are accompanied by your choice of house wine, beer or soft drinks with water, tea and coffee also provided.
