Cool, cultural and creative are words often applied to Copenhagen, but Denmark is also home to the world’s oldest royal family and has produced such notables as Hans Christian Andersen and Karen Blixen.
It is also home to an extraordinary amusement park, Tivoli Gardens. Founded in 1843, Tivoli is Europe’s first amusement park, but it takes on a whole new face once the sun goes down and hundreds of lanterns are strung through the trees. With over 30 restaurants to choose from and almost continual entertainment, Tivoli is an ideal spot to spend an afternoon or evening.
Copenhagen has almost 30 miles of waterfront and one of the best ways to view the city is by boat. On a warm, sunny day Nyhavn is the place to see and be seen and from here boats come and go providing the opportunity to explore the canals of this scenic city.
For a taste of culture, don’t miss the National Gallery, which features 700 years of art and cultural history. The museum houses a large collection of Danish and international paintings and sculptures. Copenhagen is a city of bicycles and as a result it is constantly on the move. We recommend exploring the streets like a local and work off breakfast at the same time! Families will love the Treasure Hunt by Bicycle where every clue leads to a photographic moment and memories to last a lifetime.
