Romania
Extending your visit
Romania is a vast country and you could easily spend two weeks exploring it. If you have a few more days to spend and are looking for an unforgettable cultural experience, we love Maramures, in the northwest, with its warm hospitality, traditional homes and unique sights. Most important are comic tombstones in the Merry Cemetery and a visit to Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Elie Weisel’s house-museum in Sighet.
For lovers of nature and the outdoors, the Danube Delta Biosphere is a UNESCO protected nature preserve with unique species of migratory birds and marine life. For those who visit the Black Sea coast, we recommend a visit to the extensive Roman ruins of the citadel at Histria.
