The Renaissance of Elegant Travel to Eastern Europe and Russia

Russia: St. Petersburg

A week would not be too long to devote to St. Petersburg! But we know most travelers don’t have that much time, especially since a trip here is usually combined with Moscow and it too deserves at least four days. We feel that four days is the minimum you will need to give this city a fair visit- and not leave yourself too frustrated!

A relatively young city of just over 300 years, St. Petersburg has become one of the top destinations in Europe. The city’s pastel buildings and soaring spires are as beautiful in the summer as in the winter (some would say, they are most beautiful under a blanket of light snow!). You will likely want to devote no less than two days to exploring the city center and at least two days in the countryside surrounding the city to see the glorious summer palaces built by the tsars during their reign.
