For millennia, the Silk Road has connected civilizations from Europe to Asia. History's great names - Ghengis Khan, Marco Polo, and Alexander the Great - have followed this route and now, you can follow in their footsteps.
Out of all the Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan is the richest in ancient culture, beauty and architecture.
We recommend stepping into the walled city of Khiva born in the 6th century AD, exploring the fortified Royal Palace in the city of Bukhara, and touring the centuries-old madrassas of Samarkand. You will no doubt be overwhelmed by the tremendous amount of history and culture these cities embody. Even more astonishing is how hard the people of this region have worked to maintain the sacred traditions and cultural identitiy of their ancestors.
In Depth
If you wish to journey deeper into Uzbekistan, travel with us to Fergana Valley, the Pearl of Uzbekistan. This picturesque valley is almost completely surrounded by two major mountain ranges and is home to some of the country’s most fascinating villages. The small city of Margilan houses Central Asia’s only factory still producing silk fabric by hand and the village of Rishtan is famous for its skillful potters.
Also not to be missed is the enchanting and pristine lands of Kyrgyzstan, the Switzerland of Central Asia. Lake Issyk Kul, long forbidden to outsiders and surrounded by snow-capped mountains, makes an impression not soon forgotten.
