Extending Your Visit
Take a two-hour train from Prague to Dresden, which is known even today as a center for the arts and European porcelain. You can tour the Zwinger and Green Vaults, go behind the scenes at the Semper Opera, or design your own masterpiece at the Meissen Porcelain Factory, just outside the city. Another two hour train ride will take you to Berlin and an easy flight connection onward.
Alternatively, you may want to travel south to the Croatian capital, Zagreb, once part of the Hapsburg Empire. Zagreb boasts a world-class art collection in the Mimara Gallery, with a roll call of great artists: Raphael, Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Gogh and Da Vinci – you may be introduced to the museum by one of its top curators on a private tour.
