Hidden Russia
Touring
Days 1 through 4: Moscow
Today, Moscow still fascinates. Parts of that old Moscow still exist, most famously in Red Square itself, with the landmark St Basil's Cathedral. Then there is the very new oil-rich Moscow, of designer shops and men in black.
You will tour Red Square and the Kremlin where you will have an exclusive tour of the Grand Kremlin Palace and Terem. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery, shop at Izmailovsky Park, and enjoy a visit to an authentic Cold War Bunker.
Meals: Breakfast daily, 2 Lunches, 1 Dinner
Days 5 and 6: the Golden Ring
Your tour of the most important centers of Russian Orthodoxy, the group of towns clustered around Moscow known collectively as the Golden Ring, is a trip back in time, not only in terms of the icons and architecture, which date back to the 12th century, but also for its insight into the role that the Church played in the lives of the tsars and the people. Suzdal, for example, where industry is forbidden, is still very much as it was in the 19th century.
Explore the small town of Vladimir before arriving in Suzdal. In Suzdal you will see the finest examples of original wooden architecture in provincial Russian style. Enjoy a traditional Russian dinner in a private home

During your stay in Peter the Great’s “Venice of the North,” travel outside the city to the village of Tsarskoe Selo where you will tour Catherine’s opulent, azure-colored palace and its fabled Amber Room.
