Days 1 through 3: Berlin
A city of great turmoil and radical change through history, Berlin has since become a cosmopolitan capital once again- the performing arts, some of Europe’s finest museums (how many cities have a “Museum Island!?”) and world-class restaurants make Berlin a great starting point for our journey.
Our visit will begin with an introduction to the city and how it has evolved through its tumultuous life. We will visit the famous Pergamon Museum on Museum Island, as well as the nearby Dom Cathedral. We will focus on political history, while we lunch at the Reichstag’s rooftop restaurant, Dachgarten. Our time in Berlin will end with a visit to the nearby royal town of Potsdam where we will have lunch in the Celilenhof Palace.
Meals: Breakfast daily, 2 Lunches, 1 Dinner
Days 4 through 6: Dresden
Known as the “Florence of the Elbe,” Dresden is a city who’s charm and character was stolen by the bombings of World War II. Recently the city has rebuilt many of its monuments, buildings, and churches and it is once again becoming a city of wealth and attraction. We will enjoy deluxe accommodations in the five star Taschenbergpalais Hotel, located steps away from Zwinger in Old Town. Highlights include the Semper Opera House, the Green Vaults, and the Old Masters Museum. Our guide will take us on a day trip to the local town of Meissen where we will admire the careful and precise artistry of Europe’s most famous porcelain factory.
Meals: Breakfast daily, 1 Lunch, 0 Dinners
Day 7: Dresden - Wroclaw - Krakow
On our way to Krakow, we will make a brief stop in the small town of Wroclaw. Located in the southwest of Poland, Wroclaw is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the country and its unique attractiveness is derived from the contrasts of gothic and baroque architecture to its cobblestone streets lined with enormous shade trees.
Meals: Breakfast daily, 1 Lunch, 0 Dinners
Days 8 through 9: Krakow
Krakow is a city that connects tradition with the new Poland. Examples of Baroque and Gothic architecture are found scattered throughout this Renaissance city and blend seamlessly with the new architecture found just outside the city walls. Our visit to Krakow will take us to the renaissance Royal Castle at Wawel, the Gothic St Mary's Basilica, and the historic trade pavilions of the Cloth Hall.
Meals: Breakfast daily, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
Days 10 through 11: Warsaw
With the rebirth of democracy in 1989, Warsaw is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe. The city experienced almost complete destruction in 1944 but today it is hard to imagine. We will visit a few of the most notable attractions such as the Royal Castle, Warsaw University, and King Zygmunt’s Column.
Meals: Breakfast daily, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner
