The Kingdom of Prussia was a dominant force in Northern Europe. It reached the height of its power in the 18th and 19th Centuries, when it spanned most of the land that is divided between Germany and Poland today. Its great cities have never been more inviting to the international traveler.
No other city in the world quite captures Berlin’s blend of traditional and avant-guarde culture in the wake of its reunification after the Cold War. We continue to Dresden and Meissen, which are known even today as centers for the arts and European porcelain.
In Poland, we will witness first-hand the impact World War II had on the Jewish community, as we visit Krakow’s Auschwitz-Birkenau – the largest concentration camp built by the Nazis. In sharp contrast to the horrors of Auschwitz, we will explore the architectural beauty of Krakow- a city that remained undamaged throughout World War I and World War II. We end our journey in Warsaw, a city of vibrancy, excitement and new beginnings, as we witness how both Germany and Poland are shedding their past to move into the future.
