Enjoy Kid-Time at Prater

If the children need some distinctly kid-time amongst your family’s sightseeing experiences, take the metro from Vienna to the Prater – Vienna’s oldest amusement park. It’s most known for its huge Ferris wheel, but the park offers nostalgic activities for kids of all ages. This amusement park is open daily from 10AM until midnight.

Explore the Haus der Musik

Take the children to the Haus der Musik (House of Music) for a cultural experience that the whole family will enjoy. First opened in 2000, this modern and interactive museum is located right in the historic city center in the heart of Vienna. With six floors dedicated to music and sound, this “discovery” museum features a collection of high-tech and multimedia presentations that explore music from its earliest inception to the complex musical sounds we hear and produce today. Visit The Spanish Riding School

Kids are big fans of the opportunity to see the horses at Vienna’s Spanish Riding School firsthand! Enjoy a close-up view of the stallions at the Spanish Riding School, along with a private tour of the stables. The school has been open for more than 440 years and is home to the Lipizzan horses, which perform in the Winter Riding School in the Hofburg, in the Renaissance tradition.  The school and its performances are a legendary part of Austria’s cultural heritage.

Spend Time at Schonbrunn

Schonbrunn Palace is a must-visit destination in Vienna. Enjoy a leisurely visit at Schonbrunn for a full day! From guided tours of spacious rooms to spending time in expansive parks, there is plenty for the whole family to do and see at the palace. There is a small children’s museum in the castle, and the gardens and labyrinth are also popular to explore. Even more remarkably, Schonbrunn Palace is home to a small zoo - it is actually the oldest in Europe, and possibly the world! At certain times of the day, you can also witness a demonstration of the baking of the quintessential Austrian delicacy – strudel. Yum!

Bike the Danube Trail

Your family can enjoy city and country alike with a visit to Vienna! Enjoy biking along the Danube trail outside of the city. Part of a lengthy path that stretches for over 2,000 miles along some of Europe’s largest rivers, the trail in Vienna offers families an opportunity to enjoy sightseeing and exercise at the same time. Known as the Prague-Vienna Greenway, the lush landscape offers 250 miles of pathway dotted with little towns, ancient churches, and medieval landmarks for your family to explore. Rent bikes from many bike rental stations in Vienna, or ask us to arrange it all for you.
