Hotel des Balaces Luzern
As Lucerne’s top boutique hotel, the location is everything. The Des Balances building dates back to the 12th century and was previously a guildhall in one of Lucerne’s most sought-after locations. Converted to a hotel in the early 1800’s, it has retained much of its historic charm from frescos to tapestries, which have since been paired with contemporary elements during recent renovations. Perhaps the exterior of the hotel is more famous than the hotel itself. Inspired by the Swiss artist, Hans Holbein, the exterior is beautifully painted and admired by visitors and locals alike.
All 56 rooms are elegantly modern and well appointed. We recommend the Junior Suites due to their size and beautiful river views. Many also have a balcony.
