Overview

Travel to Estonia with Exeter International

Leigh, Jody, and Stella are our experts for travel to Estonia. Their knowledge of Estonia and the entire Baltic region is invaluable when planning a trip to this area. They can maximize your time and plan the best methods of travel within the region.

Perched at the northern tip of European coast, this tiny country of 1.3 million people has distinguished itself from its neighboring Baltic sisters.

From the time of the early Teutonic settlements in the 13th century, Estonia’s always leaned culturally and linguistically towards its Scandinavian cousins across the water. Estonian towns are resplendent with old world charm and the capital, Tallinn, still has vast remains of the ancient medieval castle district and old-world palaces.

Its countryside is covered in thick green forests and its coast is dotted with several tiny islands, like Muhu and Kihnu, each with their own ethnic charm. Estonia has a rich and varied culture for such a tiny country. Whether it is the lilting folk music that appeals to you, its exceptional literature, or simply a relaxing moment in a traditional sauna, immerse yourself in its many layers with Exeter International.

Best time To Go

The summer season in Estonia is relatively short, not usually starting until June, and ending quite early in the beginning of September. Summer and late spring are the best times to visit as winters are dark with significant snowfall!

Insider's Guide

Where to Travel in Estonia

Despite its medieval roots, Tallinn has reinvented itself as a young, bohemian and innovative high-tech capital.

For clients who wish to spend a few days exploring the countryside, we highly recommend the beautiful Padaste Manor on Muhu Island, just couple hours away from Tallinn.

Extend your Stay

Latvia and Lithuania are both easily accessible from Estonia, and will make your Baltic travels complete. Each of the Baltic capital cities share certain characteristics such as their delightful old town centers, but are quite distinct from each other, Tallinn is young and vibrant, with an almost Scandinavian feel. Riga has stand out Art Nouveau architecture, and Vilnius, surrounded by green hills, feels more pastoral. Alternatively there are excellent flight connections from Tallinn to St. Petersburg in Russia. We do not recommend the long drive between these two cities as there can be delays on the border crossing.
