Klaipeda

Klaipeda is Lithuania’s third largest city and home to the country’s largest ice-free port.  The city and it’s surrounding countryside have become a frequent port of call for a number of cruise ships in recent years.  The quaint old town is ever joyous and full of cobbled streets lined with German-style architecture.

The city itself has been fought over for centuries, leaving much of its old world charm ruined and rebuilt several times over. Positioned along the Curonian Spit, a designated UNESCO peninsula, it boasts boast some of the most dramatic white sand dune beaches and dense pine forests.  The city is also home to the award winning Svyturys brewery, whose beer is the perfect pair to any traditional Lithuanian soup, fish or potato dish. Klaipeda is the perfect natural break as both a shore excursion and stop along any Lithuanian itinerary.   Explore the historical, culinary and serene landscape with Exeter International.
