Krakow

The untouched medieval splendor of Krakow is a miracle for having survived unscathed during World War II, and in fact, some locals believe that Krakow has been divinely blessed with an aura of peace. Medieval buildings surround the cavernous market hall and the central square, where street musicians serenade you in the evenings with folksongs. Try your hand at Polish crafts like lacemaking or whip up a Pierogi from scratch with one of our hands-on cooking sessions. A visit to the memorials at Auschwitz and Birkenau are a sobering tribute.

Poland’s natural heritage rivals its history and a trip into the Tatra Mountains is a delightful way to spend the day. Head off the beaten path into the forest environs of Bialowieza National Park, one of the last stretches of the primeval forest that covered the plains of Europe, or to the incredibly old Wieliczka Salt Mines, which continuously produced salt right up to 2007!
