FAQ

Is it safe to travel to Russia now?

There have been no terrorist instances in Russia for many years. Russian security, particularly near important tourist sites is very tight and all train stations have airport style security. We have our own dedicated offices in both Moscow and St. Petersburg with staff on hand 24 hours a day should you have any concerns. If you would like to read more, please see a recent article where our Founder, Greg Tepper was quoted.

Have there been any border issues in Europe due to the refugee crisis?

Many of the borders Serbia/Croatia, Austria/Germany and Slovenia/Croatia have more than one option to cross. We have not had any travelers that had to disrupt their travel in 2015. Our local staff are on hand 24 hours a day to ensure your safe transit to your next destination.

Are you still sending travelers to the Ukraine?

There has never been a better time to go to Kiev and the Western part of Ukraine. The climate for tourists is calm and safe, the currency devaluation has made Ukraine incredibly affordable and it has not always been such a great value for travelers. Due to sanctions and difficulty with accessibility, we are no longer sending travelers to Crimea. Our local staff are on hand 24 hours a day should you have any concerns.

When planning an itinerary that includes Russia, you have a choice of hiring an outside visa service or asking Exeter to obtain your visa for you. Please contact your travel expert who can advise you of the options.

How long does it take to obtain a Russian Visa in the United States?

Please allow 4-5 weeks to obtain your Russian Visa. An expedited option is available between 2-3 weeks.

I don’t have enough pages in my passport to allow for new Visas. Can I have pages added to my existing passport?

As of the 01 January 2016 it will no longer be possible to add pages to a US passport. You will have to apply for a new passport and factor this in to your time.
