Day 1
Arrival | Arrival

Arrival into Stockholm. Your driver will meet you outside of baggage claim and customs and transfer you to your hotel, ideally located in the center of the city.

Stockholm, Sweden's capital, was built on 14 islands connected through a network of waterways and more than 50 bridges. Known as "the Venice of the North", it is hardly surprising that Stockholm is a city best seen from the water. Recognized for their modern design and freshness, the Swedes also take great pride in their customs and traditions.

Evening Suggestion

Later this evening, we suggest enjoying Stockholm from the water on a three-hour cruise along the Stockholm archipelago. You will have a table reservation on the ship for dinner this evening. As you cruise, you will seesome of Stockholm’s most famous sights as well as the green spaces that dot the capital. Please note this is a public cruise and there will be other participants. We can also arrange a private boat cruise with dinner.

Day 2
Stockholm | Stockholm

Your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel for a journey to Djurgården, a natural resort in the heartof Stockholm. Here you will visit Vasa Museet. Vasamuseet is Scandinavia’s most visited museum, for its maritimehistory and Housing of the Vasa warship. The Vasa, perhaps the grandest and most ambitious ship ever to bebuilt in Sweden, is the city’s prized treasure. She capsized and sank straight to the bottom on her maiden voyagein the 17th century only to be salvaged nearly 333 years later in 1961.

Next, you will have a visit at the Skansen, the world’s largest open-air museum. Displaying the life and buildings over the last 150 years, this miniature Sweden depicts how the city has evolved. During the summer months, you will enjoy live concerts, folk music, and dancing in Skansen.

Afterwards, take the ferry to Gamla Stan (Old Town). Time permitting, your guide will show you Storkyrkan,the Great Church, is set in the heart of Old Town. Dating back to the early 1500’s the Lutheran church is Gothicdesign and has been the setting for numerous Royal weddings.

Your guide will leave you in Old Town where you will have time to enjoy some lunch (payable locally) in the area.

After lunch, meet a certified Swedish beer judge who will be your guide as you sip your way through the Old Town. Travel along the winding streets of Gamla Stan listening to the history and traditions of beer drinking in Sweden. Stop along the way to try local craft beers – Cheers! Or, “Skål” as the Swedes would say.

Day 3
Stockholm | Stockholm

This morning, your guide and driver will meet you to depart by for Drottningholm Palace and the unique court theatre where operas and concerts were performed. The Palace, built in 1662, is now the residence of Sweden's royal family. It was originally built as a Baroque palace and later extended and refurbished in the rococo style.

You will visit the magnificent Baroque Court Theatre, which is the oldest preserved theatre still in use. The original stage machinery dating back to the 18th century is still in use. Even today, the Royal Swedish Opera and Royal Swedish ballet perform at the theater.

You will return to Stockholm by boat. Disembark the boat and enjoy a walk along the quays of Stockholm fora visit at the imposing City Hall, Stockholm’s political center and site for the annual Nobel Prize festivities. TheGolden Hall is covered in millions of Mosaic tiles depicting Sweden’s history and most famous sites. The BlueHall holds a pipe organ, with over 10,000 pipes, is the largest musical instrument in Scandinavia.

Evening Suggestion

This evening we recommend visiting the Ice Bar, the world’s first permanent ice bar. Located in the Nordic Sea Hotel, the bar maintains a constant temperature of –5oC, be sure to dress warmly (blankets provided by the bar)!

Afterwards, you may want to check out two Michelin starred chef Mathias Dahlgreen’s newest restaurant,Rutabaga. Taking a dramatically different stance than many of the meat-centric eateries opened in recent years, Rutabaga is a strictly vegetarian restaurant with a daily set menu.

Day 4
Stockholm | Stockholm to Oslo
Exeter International Extraordinary Experience

Meet your driver this morning for a transfer to the restaurant to meet your chef for your active cooking experience. Upon arrival, enjoy a drink and Amuse Bouche while the chef introduces himself and givesinstructions on the morning’s activities.

You will prepare a Michelin star level, Scandinavian inspired menu. Once all the cooking is complete, sit down and savor your creations with a specially paired wines chosen by the in-house sommelier.

Following your meal, your driver will meet you and return you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Evening Suggestion

This evening, we suggest enjoying one of the newest phenomena in Stockholm, rooftop terraces. On top of your hotel is one of the hottest rooftop locations in the city, Tak. Comprised of three restaurants and a bar set over two floors, Tak has a Japanese based menu. The best part though, is enjoying a drink while taking in the panoramic views offered from the restaurant and terrace.

Day 5
Stockholm | Stockholm

Meet your driver and guide today for a visit to one of Stockholm’s other islands, Södermalm. Known as the hipster and bohemian section of Stockholm, this is where you will find SoFo – one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world (at least according to Vogue).

Your guide will take you through this trendy area, stopping along the way to enjoy a favorite of the Swedes – desserts. You’ll have the chance to try a range of sweets as you hear about the Södermalm and the history of the area.

Following your tour you may decide to stay and visit the area further.

Afternoon/Evening Suggestion

Later today we suggest you take in the Fotografiska Museum. The museum features four major exhibitions and 15-20 minor exhibitions per year of contemporary photographers, many who have never shown in Sweden before. Past exhibitions have included Annie Leibovitz. Housed in an early 1900’s Art Nouveau style building,the museum has 3 floors of exhibitions in addition to a gallery, shop and bistro.

The museum is open late and is quickly becoming a popular place for local and tourists alike to take part in thehead chef Paul Skok’s “sustainable pleasure” menu, created in conjunction with the Conscience Kitchenmovement. Menus change frequently in order to take advantage of the best produce available seasonally. The museum often showcases up and coming local performers and artists at its bar. We can even arrange a private lunch or cooking class with the chef.
