Day 3
Oysters & Wine | Award winning oysters

Meet your driver and guide today to head outside the city.

Your first destination today is the town of Ston.  During the days of the Roman Empire, the Ston oysters were famous for being a great aphrodisiac. Later, Ston was a military fort of the Ragusan Republic whose defensive walls are a notable feat of medieval architecture evident even today. There are more than 3 miles of walls extending from Veliki Ston, the historic center of the town, to St. Michael’s Mount and to Mali Ston.

Exeter Extraordinary Experience

Upon arrival in Mali Ston meet a local oyster farmer and step onto his boat.  During your 45-minute cruise you will head to the oyster banks and see how oysters and mussels are being cultivated in the region. You will have the opportunity to taste oysters plucked fresh from the sea.

Afterwards, join your oyster farmer on his little private island for a picnic lunch hosted by his family. You’ll have an fresh grilled oyster and mussels, artisanal bread and snacks, along with local wine.

Afterward, head to the Vukas family winery.  The Illyrian tribe of Plarei settled this area and while longing for perfection they have worked hard on the poor soil, rich only with stone and sunshine. Vukas’s forefathers continued realizing this longing; they started growing the wine varietal plavac mali on the inaccessible grounds of the Crnjova hill steep slopes. Keeping long tradition and improving new technologies, Mr. Vukas has created top-class products which you will have the opportunity to taste.

Day 5
Private Yacht Day | Kotor Kotor, Montenegro

Today meet your skipper to explore the best of Montenegro from the water.

See Perast and visit the island “Lady of the Rocks”. Perast represents the best-preserved entity of this part of the Adriatic. Due to the development of maritime and trade in the 17th and 18th centuries, the town grew with many new palaces and churches.  The Lady of the Rock lies about near the island of St. George. The stone plateau in the middle of the sea with a church on it is a result of the enduring efforts of generations of mariners to leave there, in the very heart of the Bay of Boka Kotorska, a testimony of their Christian faith and culture. The island was built artificially by scuttling old ships and depositing stones around a small crag.

You will also visit the port town of Kotor.  Similar to other Dalmatian towns, Kotor’s history is a succession of foreign occupations – Illyrian, Roman, Venetian, Napoleonic, to name just a few. Located at the head of a deep fjord, Kotor’s fortified Old Town was strategically built at the foot of a high cliff. Step inside the Cathedral of St. Triphun, which was originally built in the 11th century. Its Romanesque-Gothic interiors feature 14th century frescoes, vaulted roofs, and a gilded-silver iconostasis. The remains of St. Triphun, Kotor’s patron saint, are also kept here.  You may also stroll around the Square of Arms, named after the Venetian arsenal building located here, and see the Bell Tower, as well as the former pillory where the convicted were chained and exposed to public condemnation. Time and energy permitting, you may decide to climb the 1,500 steps to Kotor’s old fortress walls on the hills above the town, erected by the Venetians in the 17th and 18th centuries.

As you’re cruising today, you can stop where you like for swimming.  Water and soft drinks are supplied on the boat.  You’re welcome to bring aboard any other snacks.  There are great local spots to stop for lunch, payable locally, in Boka Bay.
