Your guide will lead you through a walking tour of Helsinki, a perfect city for exploring on foot with good pedestrian walkways.
The first stop of the day will be at the Market Square where you can sample some of the berries for sale and enjoy traditional Finnish atmosphere. Next your guide will lead you on a visit to the Uspenski Cathedral.
Make your way through the city with a stop at the Senate Square where the Lutheran Church, Senate Building, and the University are located. From here, walk through the downtown area and pass by the central railway station of Eliel Saarinen and see the National Theater and Sanoma Talo.
Next, arrive at the Music Centre finished in 2011. The building serves as a venue for concerts and other musical events. Students from the Sibelius Academy regularly practice and have concerts here.
Pass the formidable buildings that dominate Helsinki's skyline, the Kiasma museum of contemporary art, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum and Parliament House. Continue your walk up to Toolo residential area, through Hesperia Park. You'll see the famous Rock Church-a magnificent modern-day structure built entirely into bedrock and quarried stone.
From the Rock Church your walk will take you on a route leading to Helsinki’s main street, Mannerheimintie. Walk along the Esplanade and get a chance to see how many Finns choose to spend their summer, just relaxing and enjoying the sun.
