Day 1
Venice of the North |

This morning your driver and guide will meet you on the pier. Built on 14 islands connected through a network of waterways and more than 50 bridges, it is known as ‘the Venice of the North'.

Begin with a visit to Gamla Stan (Old Town) to explore the narrow cobblestone streets and quaint shops. Continue onto Djurgården, a recreational island in the heart of Stockholm. Visit the Vasa Museet, Scandinavia’s most visited museum, for its maritime history and home to the Vasa warship.

The Vasa, perhaps the grandest and most ambitious ship ever to be built in Sweden, is the city’s prized treasure. She capsized and sank straight to the bottom on her maiden voyage in the 17th century only to be salvaged nearly 333 years later in 1961.

Walk along the quays of Stockholm to visit the imposing City Hall, Stockholm’s political center and site for the annual Nobel Prize festivities.

The remainder of your afternoon is at leisure.
