Day 2
Moscow | Moscow

This morning your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby. Begin to discover Moscow with a tour of its historic centre. As you walk across Red Square, don’t miss the church and Imperial Gates. Destroyed during the Stalin era, they have been completely rebuilt and restored to their original splendor.

As you walk along with the formidable walls of the Kremlin to your right and the glittering designer store windows of GUM to your left, St. Basil’s Cathedral’s majesty dominates your view. Commissioned by Ivan the Terrible in the 1500s, legend claims that Ivan had the architect blinded so that he would not be able to replicate it. While the beauty of the Cathedral lies in its imposing façade, each of the fanciful colored domes has its own chapel within it.

Next enter the vast grounds of the Kremlin complex. Your guide will show you the largest cannon and the largest bell in the world. Neither one has ever been used, but they serve as a reminder of the might of Russia’s empire. As time and your inclination allow, visit the Kremlin churches, of which the Assumption Cathedral is our favorite.

Your guide will also take you into the Armory Museum’s extensive array of objets d’art and relics from various eras, including a stunning collection of jeweled Faberge Easter Eggs. Next, visit the Diamond Vaults with its treasure-trove of jewels, including the scepter of Catherine the Great and the legendary Orlov Diamond.

Day 3
Moscow | Moscow

Today is at leisure for you to enjoy this fascinating city.

We recommend a wander through the quaint streets of the Zamaskavorchye neighborhood and the vast hallways of the Tretyakov Gallery. Ride the escalators down into the deep Moscow Metro stations and be awed by the elegance of their frescoes, statues, mosaics and stained glass – our favorite one is Teatralnaya.

You may also want to visit the bustling Izmailovsky Bazaar with its colorful street vendors, ethnic food stands and souvenir stalls. Moscow caters to many different tastes and styles. There is no shortage of art, opera, ballet and symphony to suit your preference. Alternatively, take in one of the legendary Moscow circus performances, learn more about Russia’s role in World War II, or indulge in a Russian perspective of the Cold War.

We will be happy to customize the sightseeing to hone in on your interests today.
