Private Tour of the Frontier Guards Museum
This afternoon your driver will meet you for the short drive to Moscow’s Boulevard Ring to visit the Frontier Guard Service Museum. This unique museum is one of the most interesting and outstanding museums in Russia. First opened in St. Petersburg in 1914, it is now located in Moscow and tells the history of the Russian Frontier Guard Service from the ninth century to present time. The museum has a rich collection of the Frontier Guard history including artifacts of Russo-Japanese war, the First and the Second World Wars, Russian Civil War, war in Afghanistan, the Cold war and the first Chechen war.
The museum is divided into 5 rooms with the story developing chronologically from medieval times when the first Russian State Frontier Guard Service was headed by feudal lord Vorotynski through Imperial and Soviet Eras (WWI, the Civil War (1917-1922) and the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) up to today’s activities of the Service. There are weapons, equipment, seals, uniforms, medals and rewards, personal items, insignia and important documents displayed in showcases of the museum.
