Travel in style with Exeters tips

Schloss Fuschl

A luxurious castle hotel located on the shoreline of the lake. This castle-converted hotel was constructed in the 1400’s and holds everything that one would need to have a magnificent stay while visiting Salzburg. The hotel offers many activities on the lake and it’s only a 20-minute drive from the city of Salzburg. You get to be close to the city of music and enjoy your stay in the countryside.

The hotel has just 110 rooms, suites and cottages and resort facilities include a restaurant featuring freshly caught fish from the lake.  You will find a master fisherman on site and guests are able to swim in the lake.  For those who are interested, there is a 9-hole golf course directly next to the hotel and hiking and Nordic walking are possible from your resort base, too.

Schloss Dürnstein

This beautiful hotel sits above the Danube in the UNESCO village of Dürnstein in the Wachau Valley. This is one of the best traditional countryside hotels in all of Austria and you will feel the history from every corner of this building.

As this is a historic building, room sizes vary widely, and some rooms do not have air conditioning. Rooms have period features and bathrooms can have either a bathtub or tub-shower combination. Rooms do not have twin beds. All rooms except for the largest suite have king bed with split mattresses on the same frame.

The hotel features a large outdoor pool and wellness center, as well as a fine dining restaurant.

Hotel Lamée, Vienna

completely renovated into a cool and contemporary hotel.  This hotel features a prime location right in the heart of the pedestrian district.  The overall theme is one of Hollywood’s golden years and even the name harkens back to a favorite Austrian film star – Heddy Lamarr.  This is a sister hotel to the Hotel Topazz, located directly across the street and you can use the facilities at both.  You can visit the Salon Topazz for a club-lounge style atmosphere with complimentary beverages and snacks.  This is also where breakfast is served.

Hotel Imperial, Vienna

For a century, this architectural landmark and symbol of hospitality has received the city's most distinguished visitors. An original Wurttemberg palace, inaugurated in 1873 by Emperor Franz Joseph I, the hotel's architectural detailing exemplifies Vienna's own Ringstrasse style. The Italian architect Zanotti designed the façade of the palais, which resembles a massive governmental building with a heroic frieze carved into the pediment below the roofline.

The palace was converted into a hotel in 1873 for the World Exhibition. Today this luxury hotel features 76 rooms and 62 suites blending the timeless elegance of 19th century Vienna with modern luxury conveniences.  The dining options include the historic Café Imperial and the Michelin Star Restaurant OPUS.  A small fitness center rounds out the facilities.

Goldner Hirsch, Salzburg

Brimming with authentic Austrian charm, Hotel Goldener Hirsch is the epitome of European heritage and dates back to 1407. From rustically constructed walls to decorative antler ears, this luxury property illustrates the unique cultural influences of the region. Situated in the Baroque center of Salzburg, it faces the famous Gedreidegasse – the city's main shopping street. This unique small hotel feels more like an elegant private home and each room is different.

The hotel, an old patrician home dating to the 13th century, is decorated with a traditional Salzburg decor and filled with authentic country antiques. While the hotel is obviously very old, it has been constantly updated and just received a full renovation in 2019.  All 70 rooms and suites are equipped with the latest technology but still full of hunting lodge heritage décor.  All rooms feature wood floors with traditional woven rugs, large bathrooms and Illy coffeemakers.

The hotel features two restaurants and a bar.  The hotel is divided into two parts - the main wing, with Classic and Exclusive Rooms and the Festival Wing, with its over-sized Festival Wing Rooms.  These are directly across the pedestrian street from each other.

Astoria Resort, Innsbruck

The Astoria Resort in Seefeld is the passion project of Elisabeth Gürtler, owner of the Sacher hotels in both Salzburg and Vienna.  It is located outside the town of Innsbruck, a few minutes’ walk from the mountain town of Seefeld.  The resort is full-service, featuring a variety of rooms to accommodate both couples and families, a large wellness area with multiple pools and the possibility of nature-based activities.

The resort features just 82 rooms that have all been lovingly renovated.  Décor is a mix of traditional Austrian country style and more sophisticated contemporary décor called Alpine chic.  Some rooms offer expansive mountain views and many offer electric fireplaces.  All rooms offer a separate tub and shower.  Because of the historic nature of the mountain lodge, not all rooms have air conditioning.

You will find a fine dining restaurant and a more casual option, as well as a hotel bar.  To take advantage of the natural surroundings, each season has its own daily activity schedule including guided hikes, torchlight hikes in winter, guided snowshoe walks, yoga, Pilates and more.

This resort has a large slate of inclusive services including welcome drink and canapes, breakfast buffet, a light lunch, afternoon cake buffet, gourmet dinner, live piano music and more.

Sacher Vienna

This luxury Viennese hotel is part of the city like the Opera House, the Prater Ferris wheel, the Fiaker horse carriages, and the Lipizzaner horses. The Sacher, as the Viennese call it, is a hotel that combines contemporary Viennese comfort and luxury with the charm and feel of the old Habsburg monarchy. A simple glance from its windows shows the hotel’s special location. It is right in the city center, close to the pedestrian shopping area, opposite the Opera House and only a short walk away from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg, and the Museum Quarter.

The hotel, in addition to its perfect location, features two fine dining restaurants and the legendary Blaue Bar—the perfect spot for drinks before the opera or ballet. Of course, the Sacher Café, featuring the world-famous Sacher Torte is also an option. The Sacher has a small spa with an array of services, including the unique Time to Chocolate line of treatments as well as those by La Prarie. There is also a small fitness center.

All 149 rooms and suites are recently renovated and feature modern amenities with traditional décor.

Sacher Salzburg

The Hotel Sacher is Salzburg’s only grand hotel offering the best location in the city. It is in the very heart of Salzburg on the shores of the Salzach River just across the bridge from Old Town. The river views are breathtaking, and the charm of bucolic Salzburg is awe-inspiring.

The historical building, built in 1866, has housed members of the royal families, statesmen and famous artists such as Max Reinhardt and Richard Strauss. In 1988, the Gürtler family bought the famous hotel and began the large-scale renovation turning the building into the 5-star property it is today. The rooms and suites were decorated with unique art works while special attention was given to color. Despite all the changes, the traditional atmosphere and local charm of the hotel remain intact.

The hotel just underwent a large-scale renovation.  The facilities here include two restaurants, a piano bar, a small fitness center and spa, and, of course, a café offering the original and delicious Sacher Torte!
