Helsinki

About Helsinki

At once design-forward, naturally beautiful and laid-back, Helsinki is perfect in the summer when the sun doesn’t set and magical in the winter in the snow. Market Square provides a fascinating insight into daily life, and the famous Kauppatori fish market offers a window into the lives of the vendors, who sell fresh salmon straight from their boats. The Baltic island is home to numerous museums, lovely restaurants, well-preserved wooden homes and so much more. The city’s famous design district, just south of the center in Punavuori, boasts the Design Museum, highlighting classic and contemporary Finnish design, as well as the Amos Rex Museum, known for its modern art. Wander through boutiques, workshops and galleries housing homewares, lighting, textiles and glassware. No visit would be complete without partaking in the national pastime – sauna! We suggest a visit to the expansive Löyly, with its stunning seaside setting, perfect for a cool dip after sauna and to enjoy lunch on the sun terrace.

What's Unmissable

  • Take a sauna at Löyly – a waterfront oasis in the heart of the city
  • For an almost Wes Anderson experience, visit Amos Rex for the architecture & art

Art & design are the great draws in Helsinki together with its gorgeous waterfront - visit in the summer when the nights are endless
