Information about ETIAS and EES entry systems

ETIAS forms are not operational at the moment and are expected to be fully introduced by the end of 2026.

The Entry/Exit System (EES) is being introduced at airports across Europe and is already fully operational across 29 European countries. If you aren’t flying direct, you will complete this process at your first point of entry (your layover hub) within the EU. Here is a simplified breakdown of the process:

1. The Self-Service Kiosk

Locate an EES kiosk upon arrival.

Note: In smaller airports, you may skip the kiosk and go straight to a border officer who will handle these steps manually.

2. Passport & Details

Scan Passport: Place your ID data page face-down on the scanner.
Verify Info: Confirm that your name and date of birth appear correctly on the screen.
Travel Questions: Answer a few brief prompts regarding the purpose and duration of your stay.

3. Biometrics (First-Time Registration)

If this is your first trip since the EES launched, you must provide:

Facial Image: A live photo taken by the kiosk camera.
Fingerprints: A scan of four fingers from your right hand.
Future Trips: For subsequent visits, you’ll usually only need a quick facial scan to verify your existing file.

4. The Border Officer

After using the kiosk, you must still speak with a border officer. They will:

Perform a final validation of your data.
Ask any remaining security questions.

The Big Change: They will no longer stamp your passport, as your entry is now recorded digitally.
